Bulk emails should not change the last updated date
We all have to keep our candidate records up to date and will probably use the bulk email function on a regular basis. It's good to see that a bulk email has been sent, in the candidate record. However, it is not helpful in the fact the the Last Updated date changes, as there are no updates that have actually been made. Could we exclude the last update date changing when bulk emails are sent? It is up to the user to update the record with the reply received (e.g. by sending email to Firefish) to know if a real update has been received. When searching for candidates we often sort the search list by Last Updated date to home in on the most recently active candidates. If we have sent out a whole lot of recent bulk emails, this makes the Last Updated date pretty hopeless.

The bulk emails are ignored from the update date.

ok cool lots of things here
- So the last action date is one that we have debated about bringing through but you don’t have it as I could also confuse some users - I think however it would be good to now bring this in to the search picker as an option and would help using your example above.
- I also have a requirement that we can specify what actions we want to include in the categories so you could use the ‘active candidate’ colour code to indicate that this is someone that you are in contact with (i.e. this excludes the bulk email actions)
- lastly I agree with taking or removing out the bulk email or the push actions (get in touch, email actions ) but I want to have a think about how we can make this easily visible for you to do. As someone else may then see that there is an action recorded on a record and this does not tally with the last updated date on the candidate so they would also argue that it doesn’t make sense. As technically you could do a candidate action and update the candidates availability on an action note and not update the candidates preferences page. – let me think over a better solution to this for you.
Thanks as always Roddy good suggestions to flag

Nice one on increasing the amount of candidates we can view in a list - really helpful addition.
I had not realised that there is a Last action date - I'm not sure where this appears or how it distinguishes between these two dates. Basically, we would like to sort the search list by Last Updated date which would be the date that there were actual changes to the candidates record or circumstances i.e. not necessarily the last time an action was taken like sending a bulk email. We use the last updated column to help identify who we have had the most recent interaction with. I think we could get broad agreement on which actions would fit into this - a bulk email being sent would definitely not. It is also to know a last action e.g. we would like the record of the bulk email being sent to be there - just not to change the last updated date. Perhaps this could be relatively easy to resolve is different parameters can be set for each of the two dates - as long as the last updated option in the drop downs in a search is truly that.

ok fair comment and you are right there are 2 dates that we collect the 'last updated date' and the 'last action' date so we may need to bring the 2 dates through or look at selecting only some of the actions that included in the last updated date.
i.e. all emails out bulk emails, get in touch, references requests etc in that case as I am presuming that you would think the same on these ?
on a positive the ability to select more that the 15 in a bulk email is currently in test :)
