The ability to have a specific bulk email template for chasing references would be the ideal scenario. It would, of course, include the reference request form. One click would then chase all outstanding references.

In an ideal world, where the document is a form of our own that needs to be completed and signed, the blank document would be attached as standard and the candidate would just have to open the document and complete and sign.

In a lot of cases, we would want candidates to be able to upload a document or even a new version, for example, but if it relates to mandatory compliance, we cannot allow the candidates themselves to change the expiry date. This would be set by our compliance team. Greater flexibility with regard to compliance would make it more user friendly for sectors with a lot of different mandatory requirements.

In addition to the above, the ability to send a bulk email to chase outstanding references would also be a huge step forward. References are a thorn in our sides, and often hold up someone being cleared for work. It is also impossible to send a follow up email at all if the referee is not actually set up as a contact on Firefish - this would account for the vast majority of the references we send, and so needs to be addressed.
